RULES
RESPECT. I cannot stress this enough. I don't know how many times I've gone onto a site, and the members there are just aweful! I don't mean they talk horrible about you, but they don't follow the rules posted, and they treat other people like they don't exist! Here at LWNH, that's not going to be the case. We will be respectful to each other, staff members, and especially the guests. Friendly is key if we're going to build an amazing site.
ACTIVITY. I hate when people join up, and two days later they quit because "no one is plotting with me!' or something like that. Get your big boy/girl panties on and go plot with someone. Don't be shy. We ask that you only post 1-3 times a week minimum, and that's not asking much. If you want to be on more often, that's great! We won't mind. Because of this rule, applications can be open for a week without being finished. Day 8 and no finished application means that character/face goes back open. Sorry.
CHARACTERS. I'm going to try to make this as easy as possible here. You have a four character limit here because I've seen what happens when people have more than that. Even the sexes out as well, please. We need to try to keep it balanced - 400 girls per 2 guys is a pain in the ass for plotting purposes. Also, remember that EVEN THOUGH HARRY POTTER IS NOT REAL LIFE, we want the characters to be as real and three dimensional as possible. No perfect characters, no out of this world completely ridiculous names, like cupcake (unless it's a nickname in character). Of course this does not mean you can't have a gay or bisexual character. That's fine. I'm down with that. It's completely real.
GRAPHICS. Since we're trying to keep a "realistic" thing going, let's start here. No anime/drawn pictures. We do real celebrity faces. It's not going to be a model only/disney only thing either. Those faces are fine, but keep it correct with the age group. Adriana Lima will NOT pass as a student. Don't try it. However, she could be staff. Be smart on this one people.
CONTENT. The site is going to be as PG 13 as possible. Now, this does not mean no language. Hell, in the HP movies, Ron spouted off more cuss-words than I ever did at that age. Point being, language, violence, and some obscenities are going to happen. Be prepared for that. I would prefer you black out during an M rated scene, but if smut is your thing, please let us know in the title so we DON'T have to read it.
POSTING. As I said before, be as active as possible, but this rule is not all about that. I'm talking about posting content now. There will be no god-modding, which is acting like your character is perfect/untouchable. Not going to happen. REAL people have REAL issues. Figure your character's issues out. As for power-playing, this is also a no no. For those who don't know, this means you MAKE the other character do something. Instead of saying "he grabbed her" say something like "he reached out to grab her". Sounds better, not as pushy... and hey, check it out, one extra word! BTW, the word count is 250+, but that's not hard. Set your goal higher each post, and remember, RECIPROCATION! (matching the other persons, unless they do like 1000, then you're not required to do that part).
ADVERTISING. Staff will do advertising. If we APPOINT you that part in this site, go for it. Otherwise, leave it alone. If you want to advertise your site, do it as a GUEST, not as a member. Thanks.
MAGIC. There is magic in Harry Potter, which makes it Harry Potter. But we shall not abuse that. I've listed Harry Potter resources in the Mandatory Read's board, so check those out. Normal wizards and witches are NOT going to make continuous use of the forbidden spells like the crutiatus or the death curse. Be wise about this.
GRAMMAR. I know we're not all perfect. We will make mistakes when typing. But Proboards offers up a spell check, so make use of it! It really does help when it comes down to that word you know you need to use but don't know if i comes before e. I always get that wrong in piece. Ha... spelt it right there. LOL Just try to keep an eye out for things in your posts, and if you don't know the word, use an alternative, or look it up! There is a Harry Potter lexicon. Use it!
HAVE FUN. Harry Potter was a big part of my childhood and teen years. Hell, I still love the movies and books. So, with that being said, ENJOY the site and have fun! We're not here to be rpg police. We just want it to go smoothly for everyone. Got it! Good, now go and join up with everyone else!
